The Imaginaries, an Americana band, excel with the beautifully poetic, simple yet striking “You Already Know.”
The Imaginaries is an Americana band from the Oklahoma plains. Shane Henry (guitar, vocals) and Maggie McClure (piano, vocals) are a husband and wife duet that published their debut album on March 26, 2021. It was recorded in Muscle Shoals, AL, with legendary “Swampers” and serves as both an introduction to The Imaginaries and the start of their journey as a band after both singer-songwriters had solo success. The songs are full of natural harmonies, sincere lyrics, and life lessons. Maggie’s slightly sweet vocals and piano-driven style meld flawlessly with Shane’s blues-rock roughness to create their own distinct combination of Americana/Singer-Songwriter music.
Following the marching pace of an organic guitar beat, subtly hypnotic in movement, the song follows the heartfelt expression of that familiar, Americana-kissed vocal – short bars for the verse, a rise and fall that soon draws you in.
The lyrics are a direct, short, and sweet description of two people who clearly love each other very much. Shane sings it in the first person while Maggie offers up her own responses that pepper the narrative. It is beautifully poetic and simple yet strikingly efficient at communicating such an important message about togetherness and mutual support.
Partly thanks to its tempo and the way in which the guitar and vocal work together, it serves as a perfect accompaniment to those reflective moments we all have, be that daydreaming at your desk or gazing over the setting sun. Another delightfully crafted release from The Imaginaries serves as another reason why this band should be on our radar!
The inspiration for the song came from music from renowned artists, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Al Green, Sonny, and Cher. Many songs they have released are featured in films and TV shows. We can expect many more great releases soon.
