“Highway of Denial” by Affection, one of the most challenging corners of creation in Alternative Metal / Modern Rock music. It is a whole journey, in both style and story. This release shows Affection at the peak of their game.
Affection developed its sound in the many musical backgrounds of its members, rather than being limited to a single genre. The band’s resonant base has been this with rich and strong lyrics. In Helsinki, Finland, this unstoppable force has been fusing modern rock and alternative metal elements since 2013.
Affection showcased their raw, rhythmic energy, hard-hitting guitar riffs, and unforgettable melodies on their self-titled EP from 2014. Affection’s music is still built on these foundations today.
The band concentrated on writing new music in 2016. This time, the music had a variety of distinct flavors. These additional elements enriched the band’s musical palette, resulting in a deep, relentless, yet balanced result.
In March 2017, Affection released “Thousand Mirrors,” which was broadcast on Radio Rock, Finland’s most famous rock and metal station. Between 2018 and 2019, the rest of the album was recorded in three parts. Due to the unexpected effects of the global pandemic, Affection’s first full-length album, “Remnants,” will be released in early 2022.
“Highway of Denial” merges the attitude of Alternative Metal / Modern Rock with a melodically appealing backbone and concept that continually lures the listener in closer, from the guitar sound to the bang of the drums and the increasing roar of the vocals.

The structurally superior music has the feel of the work of a hard-rock band that has been really devoted to the music. However, this is Finland’s band at its best – completely immersed in the present and allowing listeners to experience the same feeling.
It strikes with every ounce of intention and inspiration. The likes of which ultimately work in unison with the energizing strength of the instrumental and the voice. It maintains the unmistakable sense of purpose that has been at the heart of every Affection release to this point.
