Ambient and immersive music that is done with experimenting with natural sounds, Beyond the Stars, is not the usual type of piece that you’ll find in other songs.
Güz Erdem is an up-and-coming artist based in Turkey/UK. He creates Alternative/Contemporary Pop music and has released plenty of music tracks on Spotify since 2020. Beyond the Start is his latest single release on Spotify.
Although he is a newcomer to streaming platforms, he has a strong background in music that dates back to years ago. Erdem explored music first when he started playing the flute. Then he learned the bass, and bass became his main instrument. To this day, he still considers bass to be his main instrument. Through all those years, he has learned multiple instruments and started professionally producing in January 2020. He’s come a long way since then with all of his compositions. Unlike many of the artists nowadays, Erdem plays all of his instruments acoustically. Every instrument you hear except for the synths is played acoustically. Erdem tends not to use loops in his recordings. As for him, originality has great importance.
Beyond the Stars is made with natural sounds such as wind and water-dropping sounds. Mellow music and soothing synths make the listener dive into another world, and the vocals make sure the listener stays on a dream throughout the song. Erdem says, “This song, Beyond The Stars, has a special meaning to me as I’ve fused this song together using the environment. I sampled the wind that was blowing by my house and tuned it accordingly so that it harmonized with the song. The rain also is a great backup to this song, and it provides the great magical feeling you get when you listen to this song.”
Inspired by Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, and David Gilmour, Erdem has been featured in many online music magazines and has been played on radios from the US all the way to UK and Sweden. He is one of the seven selections in Turkey’s Istanbul Culture and Arts Organisation Jazz Musicians.
