Today we are featuring Annette Homann a German violinist, composer, violist. She always loved the violin even before she started. she wouldn’t consider myself a “typical classical musician”: she always loved playing and traveling with the violin and playing with others but competitions weren’t for me. she loved the atmosphere when performing but had a hard time to stop smiling or not to move when playing violin. And she loved going to rock concerts and festivals and dying my hair all kinds of colors!
In NYC she discovered jazz and improvisation and took more composition classes. After receiving my Masters Degree from Manhattan School of Music she joined the critically acclaimed theatrical violin show Barrage – “A high-octane fiddle-fest that features an international, multi-talented cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance”. she toured with the group for 3 years, playing over 200 show each year throughout Europe, USA, Canada, Central America and China. Again she really enjoyed the show part of it next to playing of course: the lights, stage clothes, make-up, being an entertainer – and of course traveling! Barrage had a lot of fiddling influences so learned about other styles besides classical music and jazz.
she wrote new compositions in 2020! her style can be described as classical crossover. There is improvisation, some fiddle influence but also Prokofiev is an influence as very much love his music! In the summer met wonderful producer Alex Sprave and decided to go for it and record an album just for solo, duo violin/viola and loop station. Now she to release my second album called “Violin Sentiments” with original compositions.
Today we are featuring “The Violin and I” which is available on Spotify. I hope you all enjoy the track.
