“Ti Santos” is a wonderfully talented songwriter and musician with an array of recordings to his name for you to check out and embrace. “Puto Da Rua” is a folk-songwriter meets rock and roll kind of track, one of the artist’s more energetic and full on recordings. There’s an explicit level of honesty and personality to the song, in both the lyrics and the leading vocal performance – the emotion, the passion – but there’s also a warm and upbeat energy to the surrounding music; a full band feel that’s impossible not to love. The combination works well, the warmth of the music and the building instrumentation adds a level of drama and intensity that really brings out the brightness and power of the song.
The artist presents a fusion of personal experience and accessible content – some of it unique to him, some of it relevant to many. The hook section in particular makes for a track that will have a lasting effect and hopefully bring listeners back for a repeat listen at times when motivation is lacking. Any music that reminds you to seize the moment, to take the opportunity as it comes, to do the right thing, and not simply follow the crowd, is going to resonate with those looking to better themselves or make it through a tough time. There’s always room for that in music, for the inspiring or motivational, and I think the dark undertones of this particular track make for a more believable and easier-to-relate-to piece of audio.
The rap vocal that comes in, later on, adds a new sense of character, a deeper tone, a little more attitude, and alternate passion in the delivery – the vocal flow here is superb, the performance is fresh and fits in perfectly with the somewhat experimental, stop-start nature of the beat. All performances throughout are in fact on point, carrying the essence of the track confidently and fitting in well with the general ambiance. The overall effect is that the track is quite hypnotic, addictive even – hopefully, there’s plenty more to come.
