Jordan Mac ’s MY YEAR ’ represents pretty well the very sound that thrives on any long drive home. The opening instrumentation features a full band sound and some stylish, unquestionably country-Hip Hop flickers of the awesome soundscape. It sets a great mood, the soundscape is warm and hopeful, the music rising up from the verse to the chorus to really give that hook impact, and the melody portrayed with absolute passion and authenticity by the leading artist himself.
Jordan found a passion for writing raps at 8 years old. Having been inspired by Eminem, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, and 2pac, this awesome soul always wanted to do something unique and awesome with his own pace of the music.
The mellow nature of the music contrasts slightly with the underlying realness – the chords chosen, the awesome vocal parts running consistently in the backdrop – it all has a slightly serious mood to it; not haunting, but the sort that reaches out to your soul and seeks genuine connection. The development of the music and the performance brings about a touch of the classic hip hop sound, the final few moments focusing on the melody and that key idea, that concept, and the title. It’s a supremely well-built piece of music and writing that pours out through your speakers or headphones as if it were the day’s prayer. The storyline, however, is very personal, and despite the way it may make you feel as a listener, the experiences and character that come through are true to the artist and hold a certain connection and weight with him, ultimately adding an undeniably human element of authenticity.
Throughout the entire release, the performance has something of a free-flowing or freestyle aura about it. There’s a theatrical feel to the delivery of the lines on occasion, but never leaning too far away from what is authentic. You can hear the passion and the connection between the words and the singer, and that’s what makes the song unique.
It’s an interesting song that stands out for a number of reasons. With future releases, it’s highly likely that audiences will recognize the style as well as the tone and character of the leading voice. The possibilities are endless in terms of songwriting, the lyrics have something fresh and unexpected about them. Hopefully, there’s a lot more to come.
