“Gorephanage” immerses himself in the raw energy of Deathcore for this latest release “HALLELUJAH”, particularly the live version that you can check out below. Gorephanage is a 2 man group who love to write heavy music. The artists and their music have a tight connection, the music flows brilliantly, the rhythm is consistent and snappy and when it falls away everything smashes back into life in absolute, satisfying unison. It’s a great performance. The song itself has a few specific riffs and moments that really stay with you after listening, it simultaneously feels like a step in a slightly more polished and energizing direction. It’s definitely his strongest release yet, and I was a fan regardless.
The word colorful works brilliantly here, this experience of just over three minutes showcases a structurally detailed and varied piece of music and writing, eventually centered around the vibrancy of the music and this memorable melody and concept of our shared strangeness. From the offset the soundscape appears as something that has been carefully crafted, as is generally the way with releases from “Gorephanage”. There’s always an element of fun to the sound, a lot of creativity, and some underlying depth or message that causes you to ponder things beyond the average, day-to-day realm of thought. The vocal performances on this add to the fact that it’s a quickly memorable song. The Gorephanage delivery makes certain the hook settles in for the long term, it also draws your focus to the character or individuality of the music. Gorephanage don’t really care what anyone else is doing musically, they do their own thing, and that’s why you recognise it and look forward to whatever they may be about to entertain you with next.
The riffs on this track are actually fantastic, and the rhythm of the music is not the only driving force behind the energy – the delivery of the melody has a certain pattern to it that offers a similarly addictive and uplifting quality. On top of all of this, you get a real showman presenting the music to you. Anything sounds better when the artist showcasing it is already, clearly in love with the process – it’s a great thing to experience.
The concept is brilliant, the first verse lays bare the sentiment – the story line, the imagery – the second verse is where it all comes together; takes on a life of its own, captivates and hypnotizes you. The whole thing is provocative and intriguing, not to mention performed to a sensational standard. “Gorephanage” is a masterful singer and songwriter. I look forward to hearing what their future releases bring about.
