Bachata dancers perform each step within a square. The original dance style has been modified to simplify the dancing among western dancers to work as a side-to-side motion.
In both styles, the Bachata consists of three typical steps, followed by a tap step. When tapping, dancers often give a pop of the hips or additional steps to add flare. The pop is done in the opposite direction of the last step. And then, the step guides the dancer to the next step, following the direction of the tap.
